Townsville Cranes, a local Townsville business since 2006 has taken delivery of a 300-tonne crane, the largest of its type in North Queensland. The Millar family who owns Townsville Cranes as well as another local business, NQ Mining Services, made the significant investment of $3.1million dollars for this machine after noticing a need in the region for such a specialised piece of equipment.

The Tadano Demag AC300-6, 300T Slew crane will be based permanently here in Townsville, and will alleviate the local construction, mining and refinery industries needing to bring in larger cranes from Southeast Queensland for their construction works, annual maintenance and project works.
Sam Millar, General Manager of Townsville Cranes, says, “By having local access to this equipment will not only make sourcing equipment easier for local businesses but will help businesses financially.

Our investment in this massive crane will help create substantial cost savings and will expand the capability of mining and civil projects that are currently under construction or in the pipeline to begin construction in the near future”.

Speaking from Tadano, Jason Perry, Sales Manager for QLD, PNG and NT says, “for us to have someone like Townsville Cranes invest to have one of our 300 tones cranes is important, it is a special piece of machinery indeed and it signifies not only our capabilities but how the relationships with Tadano and Townsville Cranes is beneficial to the Townsville region. Townsville Cranes have used us prior; we have sold them 4 cranes in the last 3 years, so we know that the region is growing and in a great economic position”.

Townsville Cranes is a dynamic business who are focused on supporting growth in North Queensland by supplying the mining, agricultural, building and government industries with all their crane, truck, and labour hire needs. They strongly value the growth of the region. All the staff are local residents, and all of their plant and equipment is owned, operated and maintained locally.
